Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired

Hungry - Angry - Lonely - Tired. Any combination of these diminishes my fitness for service. They are the barometer of the spirit - the low pressure before the storm. My presence in the Now is diminished as I look to the past for blame and to the future for relief. Out of the Now means out of God's presence.

ACTION STEPS

  1. Pause when agitated or doubtful
  2. Take 10 meditative breaths
  3. Assess the symptoms of H.A.L.T.
  4. If Hungry...Get nourishment
  5. If Angry...Say "I have all I require." and imagine three gratitude list items
  6. If Lonely...Say "I have all I require." and Reach Out for help
  7. If Tired...Take a break, Step Away if possible and Laugh at the Beast

EXAMPLE

I have lost three coffee cups and damage the cover of one vinyl tool kit by not taking this advice. H. A. L. T. arises and I take myself out of the moment. I set things on the roof of my van, forget they are there and drive off. I retreived the tool kit off a busy road. I keep it with it's scarred cover to remind me. As for the cups, I have found the sight and sound of the cups smashing brings me back to the Now. I am able to laugh at my ego and stop taking myself so seriously.
